NEUROGENESIS: HOW DOES IT RELATE TO THEOSOPHY?

it is a physical demonstration of what the Buddha said in the Dhammapada: "All that we are is the result of what we have thought"

it demonstrates St. Paul's "God will be not mocked, that which ye sow, ye shall also reap."

it demonstrates the idea of "sow a thought, reap an action, sow an action, reap a habit, sow a habit, reap a character, sow a character, reap a destiny."

it affirms the Theosophical notion that it really is mind over matter and that this can translate into empowerment of the human mind over what we had previously come to think of as an insurmountable obstacle, namely the wiring of the brain.

It keeps in proper perspective the human genome project. While it is interesting that DNA can be studied with precision, this does not mean that determinism is in any way the order of the day.

It brings contemporary science and ancient wisdom all under one roof--like few, if any directions of scientific research today (with the exception of astronomy and the findings of the Hubble telescope).

it points to human perfectibility: the guys that can do the gamma rays like Mathiew Ricard and the other advanced practitioners probably not only have logged in their tens of thousands of hours of meditation in this life but probably are really just picking up where they left off in other incarnations. In other words, those gamma rays might be proof in themselves of not only reincarnation, but of vows and a trans-lifetime fidelity to a continuity of high consciousness on behalf of humanity.
